Challenge
Terraverde is a registered CIO working at the intersection of housing, energy efficiency, financial wellbeing and health inequality — with a mission to help lower-income households improve their home environment and build long-term financial resilience. They needed a technical partner who could translate a complex, multi-disciplinary vision into a coherent, working platform — and help position it credibly for grant funding and institutional pilots.
What we did
Rodan served as both technical adviser and delivery partner across multiple years and workstreams. Working alongside the Chair, CFO, COO and CMO, we designed and built an iterative adviser platform spanning three integrated modules:
Home Efficiency — connecting EPC and energy performance data to household-level recommendations, helping residents understand the practical and financial impact of home improvements.
Wealth — a behavioural financial coaching platform built with segmentation logic, CPIH-aligned income thresholds, coaching nudge sequences and a proprietary scoring engine to guide residents toward financial resilience.
Health — an integrated health-housing framework drawing on academic evidence from the University of Strathclyde's Design HOPES research, connecting housing condition data to NHS-recognised health outcomes and incorporating validated wellbeing measurement (WEMWBS and a custom Home Comfort and Well-being Scale).
Across the platform's evolution — from initial build through to Adviser 2.0 — we extended the product beyond energy data to incorporate referral pathways, community signposting and a unified wellbeing dashboard. We also produced the technical specification, funding documents and pilot proposal materials used in grant applications including MCS Foundation.
