Embedded analytics

Analytics, such as charts, metrics and insights, built directly into an application or workflow rather than presented in a separate reporting tool. It can serve internal users or be offered to customers as part of a digital product.

Why it matters

People act on information that appears where they already work. Embedding analytics in operational tools or customer portals raises usage and connects insight to action.

When analytics are shown to customers, they become part of the product: they need security per tenant, performance at scale, careful metric definitions and the same release discipline as other features.

In practice

For example, a UK fleet-management software company might embed fuel-efficiency and utilisation dashboards into its customer portal, with each customer seeing only its own vehicles and benchmark ranges calculated from anonymised aggregates.
