Data integration for management reporting
Replace repeated spreadsheet reconciliation with a maintained path from source systems to agreed management measures.
Reporting data integration collects, reconciles and transforms information from business systems. Its purpose is to make a recurring report explainable and repeatable, including when source records change after publication.
Identify the source of each measure
List which system owns each entity and field. Customer, account and engagement identifiers often differ across finance and operational tools. Agree how to match records, handle duplicates and preserve unmatched items for investigation before attempting a complete consolidated view.
Build a process that can recover
Data collection needs to cope with interrupted runs, changed fields and late records. We design repeatable loads, validation and an owned exception route. A failed refresh should be visible to the person maintaining the report, with enough information to recover without manually rebuilding the reporting period.
Keep transformations inspectable
Document the rules that turn source records into a measure. Record the reporting period and the versions needed to explain published results. Access to the reporting layer should follow its business purpose, rather than inherit unrestricted access simply because data has been copied out of an operational system.
Choose the smallest maintainable architecture
One source and a modest report may need only a controlled extract. Multiple sources, historical comparisons and shared measures may justify a warehouse. Start with one reporting cycle, reconcile totals with the existing process and agree who owns both the data definitions and the running service.
